ALCHEMY ARTS COLLECTIVE The Banyan Maze & Cradle
Alchemy Arts Collective is a group of artists specialized in creating immersive environments and large-scale sculpture for festivals and events, based out of Portland OR.
The Banyan Maze Artistic Director Heather Beckett and Co-Designer/Build Manager Chad 'Fez' Gaetz are life partners bringing their big love into their first big artistic collaboration. Beckett has worked on page, on stage, and creating immersive installations as a writer, director, performer, and designer for her entire life. Gaetz' large scale sculptures and environments amplify natural forms using steel, lumber, fabric, rigging and LED illumination, and have toured extensively in the US and beyond. The Banyan Maze additionally features the original artwork of Eric Nez, Carly Blackburn, and Jeff Harrison.
"Cradle" is a collaboration between designer Chad 'Fez' Gaetz and fabricator Michael Hackett of Muttley Metals. Gaetz is best known for his large scale sculptures and environments amplifying natural forms using steel, lumber, fabric, rigging and LED illumination. Founder of Alchemy Arts Collective, his works have been featured around the world with recent showings at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas and at Pier 70 in San Fransisco for Google. Michael Hackett brings 30 years as a journeyman now to artistic fabrication.
The Banyan is a storied interactive maze where spiraling paths, secret passage-ways, and riddled rooms lead through muraled hallways on an immersive art adventure. Around each corner, another world-shift invites participants deeper into their imaginations and shared experiences.
"Cradle" is a 29' tall towering large-scale sculpture of Mother Nature's forearms and hands in the shape of a heart. This piece is skinned with thousands of silk flowers and displays as an entry into the Forest.
