Angelica and Water Filters for Cambodia – Second Wish Machine Grant!
Angelica travelled to Cambodia and dedicated her time to researching septic systems, analyzing water samples, and supporting Water for Cambodia by helping to build and install biosand filters in the rural villages of Siem Reap. Upon her return to The States, Angelica welcomed a deeper appreciation for everything and everyone in her life, understanding a new level of kindness and community that she learned from the people of Cambodia.
“I spent approximately three weeks in Cambodia. During my time here, I met some amazing people who were sure to change my life forever. The kindness within the people of Cambodia is astonishing considering they recently lost a massive portion of their community due to the Khmer Rouge. Sadly, many of these residents live far below the poverty line, and do not have access to clean water. I spent my weeks researching their open septic systems, analyzing water samples from the villages, and supporting Water for Cambodia, by helping to build and install biosand filters in about 35 homes in the rural villages of Siem Reap. This changed me as a person, because coming back to the states, you see so much more to be thankful for and how we don’t really need all the materials we’ve acquired in our day to day lives. I also have a different perspective of kindness and community, however being new to a rave/EDC culture, this is something I experience at every show. I wanted to participate in the Wish Machine to be able to provide a ticket for my friend who couldn’t afford to go. She works a full-time job as an EMT with me, as well at goes to a medical schooling program full time. I truly want to share my first time at Electric Forest with her, as she too has seen the outstanding people that goes to these shows. Overall the wish machine is an act of kindness, as it encourages efforts to make the world we live on, better for everyone and everything.” – Angelica
Angelica wishes to spread her perspective of kindness and community – from the rural villages of Cambodia to Rothbury – continuing to spread selflessness and friendship by bringing her best friend to Electric Forest 2018.
HQ is proud of Angelica’s generous attitude in life, and happy to announce that Angelica and her best friend are invited to join the Forest Family in Good Life Village during the Second Weekend of Electric Forest 2018.
THE ELECTRIC FOREST WISH MACHINE
The Wish Machine sparked inspiration from across the globe. From local communities in Michigan to as far as Tanzania and Cambodia, the Forest Family considered what they could do – for individuals, neighborhoods, communities, and societies – to help make the world a better place. Pledges included raising money and awareness for mental health, rare diseases, and sustainable efforts; donating clothing, personal items, and funds to charity drives and disaster clean-up efforts; volunteering time and resources to local humane societies, hospitals, and homeless shelters; and so much more.
The Wish Machine challenged the Forest Family to venture out into the world and spread positive action and good deeds. Now it’s time for The Forest to reward the most amazing, world-changing, and awe-inspiring acts of kindness.
